Easter approaches. · Feb 25, 12:57 AM

The outsiders, stand by and see, or think they see, the convert entering with bowed head a sort of small temple which they are convinced is fitted up inside like a prison, if not a torture-chamber. But all they really know about it is that he has passed through a door.

—G. K. Chesterton, “The Catholic Church and Conversion”

  1. In case I forget to visit your site after the Vigil, congrats on your initiation. My wife joined the Catholic church through RCIA 5 years ago this Easter, and now she's getting her doctorate in theology from Notre Dame. Its a crazy ride.

  2. I do not know if this will be the year of my conversion. I have this habit--you see--of putting off some decisions so that when I make them I kick myself and say, "I should have done this long ago."

  3. Tom,

I am with you in prayer. Ultimately I felt called to Catholicism once and if that calling is truly there I want to join you in this. I'm sorry I was not aware how close you actually were, thinking this step might have been a year or so in the future, but with God time is more kairos and less chronos. I will be with you no matter what and hope that one day my fervency can match yours. You have become a sort of guiding light for me. Much love and many prayers for you this Lent. And please, do pray for me, a very weary but hopeful man. If I could arrange a ride I'd even like to be there to celebrate with you. Who knows?

    With love, Bill
