I’m too lazy to write up an amusing modern history of Ghana or leave my apartment and take pictures. I’m mentally zombified by the firehose they’ve plugged into my brain at work and the deluge of acoustical knowledge that rushes out of it. I’m happy with quiet time to myself, so I bring back no amusing dinner-date anecdotes. Instead, I kittyblog.
First: driving.
Downtown Newport is old city—older than everything in Orlando and most of Florida, with scattered patches of cobblestone and narrow streets. You can’t drive too fast, and nobody ever signals before a turn, but the drivers are friendly. Too many times the driver ahead of me stop and waves out a car waiting to pull into traffic. I now feel a little guilty when I don’t.
Second: seasons.
It gets colder every week. For me, the longtime Floridian, this is exotic weather: romantic, eerie, and fricking cold. I can no longer lounge about in my birthday suit, but put on long underwear and wish I had mittens that I could type through. I’m afraid for my heating bill come winter proper. The upside? Trees are changing, turning bright autumn colors in the crisp sunlight.
Third: there is no third.
Thanks for listening, and here is—in closing—a juicy personal tidbit. Ready? I don’t run anti-virus software.

It is getting colder here too, especially the last week. Although surely not as cold as it will be getting up there :( — Joel Oct 7, 11:05 PM #
