If I were a better man, · Jan 27, 01:43 AM

I would stick to a more consistent theme, or at least employ proper transitions in my blogging. That having been said, Who’s making an idol? looks at romantic love from the nearly-Catholic perspective, which is the same perspective that was the first thing I decided the Catholic church had got right. Here, I’ll quote,

My own problem with the cult of Eros isn’t really that it allows non-traditional relationships. It’s that it hogs all of love to itself.

Later, The Imitation of Christ would convince me that certain personal convictions on suffering (see George Macdonald, or C. S. Lewis—who too much time paraphrasing Macdonald) were, it just so happens, Catholic convictions. That was a happy coincidence, but it was not the first big clue stick I found Rome wielding.
