Two words: Creme Brulee · Mar 8, 12:13 AM

And that’s all that really needs to be said about tonight. Dinner at 22 Bowen was concluded with an excellent creme brulee. I regret nothing. Except not selecting from these excellent desert wine list.

Also remarkable: the sun is below the horizon, but the mercury is above the freezing line. Everywhere snow is melting away to reveal the caked mud and salt deposited this winter to keep the roads drivable. Except for the parking lots where mountains of plowed soggy, dirty snow still reach higher than I can stretch my arms.

Finally: It is clear that I am to become a branding consultant. Perhaps for my third career. Right before I invent the computer that runs backwards, which you can never crash.

* * *

  1. I think the first step to your branding consultancy would be to establish a visible self-brand, so you should buy some Hilfiger t-shirts with the word “Tommy” emblazoned upon them in letters as big as possible, and then wear said shirts to work every day. To promote yourself, that is. Dave    Mar 9, 02:23 AM    #

  2. What would be a good time to drop by NY to see you? You are next on my list you know. Yin    Mar 9, 11:41 AM    #

  3. -Beware cheap creme brulee: it can ruin your pallete.
    -Branding probably has a limited hip-factor lifespan as modern tribalism slips into obscurity.
    -You could try starting by branding the “Adachi Tomomi Royal Chorus” for American consumption. This would be a feat (as my wife calls it Japana-caterwauling). chris    Mar 9, 02:06 PM    #

  4. Yin, I hope to know if/when I will be on travel this summer by the end of the month.

    Chris, you can spend $70 a seat at 22 Bowen’s and still drink nothing but water with lemon. Their after-dinner drink list is longer than the main menu. Consequently, I surmise their creme brulee is at least half passable. Tom    Mar 9, 08:16 PM    #
