The Incredibles · Apr 13, 10:18 PM

Pixar (Toy Story, Finding Nemo) and Brad Bird (The Iront Giant) work well together. Mass-market feel-good movies often put me into a black mood; I’m delighted to be delighted by The Incredibles, which is less a super-hero film and more a family film written in the popular super-here genre. It’s not Spiderman. It’s not X-Men 2, but it’s cementing the obvious proposition that people are desperate for mythology and heros to love. Even “in spite of” our psychologized and deconstructed culture, we long for Homer.

Directed: Brad Bird, 2004
Summary: Mass market American animation at it’s best.
