Canival of the Dancing · Oct 28, 11:59 PM

So… everybody knows the Numa Numa Dance [and some of you may have seen these two]. This here internet is a whole new twenty-first century media for the extrovert show-offs in-hiding.

First, you need instructions on How to Dance Properly. You also need a video camera to capture your antics. Now you are ready to showcase the live-action matrix motion choreography in your new routine.

But don’t limit yourself to big productions. All you need is a couple friends and the right vibe to vogue it up on the internet like in those Mastercard “priceless” satires. Or heck, use your newfound broadcasting technology to document those little rock-out moments that we all have.

Remember, this is the internet. Feed future under-respected anthropologists by explaining what living with Brett is like. Document your travels. Record historic moments.

Please, dance responsibly—fiends don’t let friends dance on drugs

[Reason for this post: Brett’s footwork demonstration in the dirtyneedle.net clip. Next week: retro-pop mashup video edits.]

  1. One of my seventh-grade students, this Pakistani kid that weighed maybe 90 pounds, memorized the entire Numa Numa dance. If you asked him really nicely and you weren’t one of the evil teachers that he didn’t much care for, he would treat you to a one-man show in the hallway between classes. It was potentially the funniest thing I ever saw at the middle school. Katie    Nov 2, 06:17 PM    #

  2. You say “potentially”? I say “scientifically 100% USDA proven”. Tom    Nov 2, 09:25 PM    #

  3. I can’t dance.
    Never could.
    Clumsy
    and fraught with
    panic.

Read “The Greatest Man in Cedar Hole”. See if the characters in the book are like any of your friends. Or yourself. It’s sort of like the melancholy pumpkin. Ferdbirfel    Nov 3, 06:12 PM    #

  4. Hey Tom,

I appreciate your insightful comment on synthetic pair interest on Oanda. (I’m assuming that was you).

But really intrigued to ask you: Did you thruhike the AT???

    I did in GA->ME in 1999! Cool! craigatk    Nov 4, 06:57 PM    #

  5. Yes, craigatk. Well, not quite. My “thru-hike took two years; I did the southern half in 2001 and the rest in 2004 . The current banner image is from the Glastenbury Mountain fire-tower in VT. [more pictures from 2004]

I was inspired by PMS and Ante-up, from the class of ‘98. Tom    Nov 4, 07:36 PM    #
