I’m back at the hostel this weekend, teaching myself MySQL. The ice-storm Friday layered sidewalks with black ice, frosted trees and streetsigns, but I still went out with a hosteller in from WI. We had an excellent time over fish & chips and clam strips; made me want to visit Eastern Europe sooner instead of later. So … to tide you over until I start taking winter pictures:

NOTES: A fellow I met on the AT wrote that last story about the missadventures of ex-pats in Beijing during the Tiananmen Massacre. Recent events in Dongzhou inspired this reading.
