Winter Blue Sky Report · Jan 8, 11:23 AM

Ugh, Pleasantly Exhausted. I’m rolling out of bed for the second time today, to journal the holidays before the memories dissipate. I had to lie down for half an hour after an Aikido class—my first.

[ I didn’t take any pictures. You might as well not read this entry. The writing is … uninspired. ]

Before I left for Florida to spend the holidays with family and friends there, I saw several Christmas concerts here in Newport: choirs at the Breaker; a Messaiah singing at a local and historic church; a mostly-locals, cash-bar concert at Castle Hill that featured lounge singers, local jazz, gospel, a russian girl covering Imagine, a tap dancing Brazillian who also sings, and a fellow with a bongo who does a heartfelt Drummer Boy.

I also saw the newest Pride and Prejudice. My family is collectively a huge Jane Austin fan; the A&E miniseries was given both to my mother and to my sister on Christmas. I believe there was a family viewing later that week. During a sit down discussion, we agreed it was an excellent movie, especially for a two hour rendition.

[ Time passes. Ibuprofen is taken. I sleep for ten hours. ]

Florida was nice. The sister picks me up at the airport and we spend too long at Target selecting frames. At home, it’s Christmas with lots of family, and a recovering-from-major-surgery mom. Pleasant. The days following Christmas I hang out with Josh and Corey in Orange Park playing Lego Star Wars. Later, I drive to Orlando and move in with Chris and Lisa, catching up with some of the Orlando gang. Hamlin’s girlfiend is wearing a shirt with artwork by the Invader Zim guy when I meet her; I’m surprised at how well she fits herself in with our group. We’re an eclectic, full-of-inside-jokes bunch.

I took side trips to Tampa (Hi Bill!) and Merritt Island (Hi JJ!) and back to Tampa (Hi Julie, and hi Greg!) before returning to Jacksonville and flying back north.

I also spent New Years Eve at Epcot. Crazy spectacular.
