I had breakfast at the 24 hour Yoshinoya across the street. They have eight dishes on their menu, and the menu is laminated and stuck to the counter every couple feet. All I do is point to the one I want and say “large size”.
I took the Yamanote line to Tokyo station to spend the day wandering around Marunouchi. I saw the famous Nijubashi and the wide outer gardens. The sun was bright and the sky was smoggy.
I wandered somewhat aimlessly, taking in random architecture — the Tokyo International Forum, the Bank of Japan, the Marunouchi building. I went into the Marunouchi building and rode the escalator up to the top floor. People were waiting outside restaurants, and everyone was dressed very formally.
Back at the hostel, I crashed for a couple hours, then met Rob again for some Aunkai practice on the roof of his apartment building in Mejiro. Hopefully I will be able to pound two or three of the basic exercises into my body memory so I can work on them while I am in China. At the very least, I need at least 3.7 times my current leg strength. We went out for dinner afterwards.

Perhaps you'd like to read something ?
Do you know you can’t google AUNKAI and get an intellible (well, in English, anyway) answer about what it is? I’ll keep putting clues together from your posting.
— Jackie Smith Apr 18, 10:06 PM #Did you see this? My take (as someone with very little ability) is that it is a method of training yourself into one connected unit. With that skill you can chop wood or defeat kung-fu bandits.
— Tom Apr 19, 01:15 AM #OHHHH TOMmMM you have to take me with you next time! Until then I will satisfy my Tokyan urges with the purchase of sushi pillows: http://pixelgirlshop.com/gallery.php?id=149
— Katie Apr 19, 09:59 PM #Hrm how useful is Aunkai against non-kung-fu bandits, aka bandits attacking with, say, couch cushions or cutting remarks? Further is it limited to wood production or can it be used for cooking, gardening and handcrafts?
