I can touch all four walls of my private no-bath single from the bed where I’m lying. If I’m face up, my left elbow touches one wall and I can reach out my arm to touch the other. My toes reach down to touch the third wall and if I extend a little I can get my head to touch the fourth wall, the one with the door. It’s not a big room. If my bed shifts by a quarter of an inch I can’t open my door. the bathroom shower next door is similarly proportioned. The room is small, but it’s spotless, and so is the bathroom. I didn’t expect this level of clean until Tokyo.

It was clean and tidy until I got here. My pack was disemboweled and the contents slopped out on the bed in a messy pile. To get to sleep I shoveled everything onto the floor and on top of my cheap new carry-on.

I slept in today, past ten. There is only one window, and it doesn’t let in much light. Yesterday I kind of wanted to go somewhere today — a beach of the south side of the island, one of the smaller islands, or a remote corner of the New Territories — kinda, but not really. I explored local side streets looking for cheap noodles and a supermarket. I spent some time online and more time offline printing out a couple of bodywork articles recently posted by Rob on Aikiweb. I reorganized and packed my stuff.

My flight to Tokyo departs at night, which logically implies catching the first or second Airport Express bus tomorrow morning at 5:30 or 5:45. I did a really good job of getting everything done ahead of time tonight.

The first episode of the new Dr. Who series was on tonight at 21:00.
