When you work, Saturdays can be for sleeping in. We slept in.

The day was largely spent lazing about in front of the wide-screened television surfing net forums or playing FF XII. I kind of organized myself a bit, but who am I kidding — I didn’t get work done, serious or otherwise. Rob and I get along ok.

Saturday night classes have an Aunkai basics focus. We do shiko, tenchi, mabu, leg raises, then move to lower stance work that trains the arms to move as a single unit connected to the left and right body axes. I sweat. I sweat until my shirt is soaked and so are my pants. Ark comes by with a broom to wipe away the drops of sweat I’m leaving behind. When we are doing kokyo dosa he wraps washcloths about my wrists so my partners can get a grip.

After class we unfold a couple tables for drinking, eating, and talking. Ark is in good form. There are jokes about testes. I didn’t get much personal attention from him in class, but I don’t expect it. Rob has given me more than enough to stay busy for a year or more.
