Here is what the heaven and earth exercise looks like:

That’s the basic external shape with a couple extra movements that may not be core to the exercise. Rob posted decently explicit introduction to the internal side on Aikiweb.

To grind it in to anyone who might think I know what I’m talking about that I don’t … I couldn’t do three of these in a row without hitting muscle failure when I started. I’m still not able to tension my lower body and I have a hard time maintaining it in the upper.

  1. There is a lot of work that goes into getting this right . . . I’m not close to there yet. But the more I practice, the more little details I pick up in this clip of the exercise.
