The Novocaine wore off early this afternoon, and tooth 15 is aching very strongly now. The cavity was pretty deep I guess — all the way to the nerve or something. Getting it drilled out didn’t hurt very much, and neither did the Novocaine shot, but I still managed to pass out in the dentist chair, even before Dr. Frank had entered the room.
I remember him poking his head in, asking how I was. “A little light-headed,” I replied, with clammy skin, just as my tunnel-vision faded straight to black. I woke up with a warm compress on my forehead and a concerned doctor getting me to talk. That’s how the visit began.
The best part? I may be looking forward to a root canal later this week.
11:17 PM: I no longer joke about looking forward to the root canal.
1:43 AM: Yay! I have an idea how to distract myself with the camera.
1:56 AM: Oh, no, I’m back to insomniac boredom. My attention will wander and then roost in the damned tooth. Maybe my body will let me pass out on the couch in front of the TV.
9:02 AM: Hooray for Ibuprofen!

“Tooth 15. Tooth 15 where are you?”
— malfridi Jan 17, 03:55 PM #In Lisa’s pregnancy book they say that extreme pain can be alleviated by looking at a picture of a calm landscape.
Lisa comments that more pain could be alleviated from reaching out and tearing the picture to shreds…
I enjoyed a bottle of scotch, straight from the freezer. Holds the cold longer than ice, and my ice trays were empty anyhow.
