I changed the air filter on the furnace today; the thing was rotten filthy and burned through in two spots. This is something you’re supposed to do monthly, but I’ve forgotten. Maybe the smoke alarm will stop going off when the heat comes on.

You are also supposed to take your car keys off the key chain when you leave your car overnight with a mechanic. Chuck and Meredith kindly lent me a bed for the night, and I left my notebook’s power cord with them when I left. Fortunately there was enough energy stored to watch the latest episode of Heroes on nbc.com. I would have called and asked him to bring it in to work this morning, but I forgot my phone; it’s sitting in my office, on my desk, and it’s out of battery anyhow.

Things I haven’t forgotten: the looming root canal. Woo.
