I was depressed about living in Newport, but then spent a weekend hanging out with Chuck & Meredith, who had friends in for the weekend. We played fun games like wallyball and college-level balderdash (that’s a funny joke, see… college is supposed to be all Higher Education and stuff, but it was crazy immature). We ate steak and Chinese buffet. I even picked up a basketball and shot it. Another mental block bites the dust.

Next, I met a friend out from LA on work travel for dinner. The subsequent AM (0400) I was horribly horribly ill, and it took all week to recover. It was so bad I was watching Stargate: SG-1. I even cried during the powerful emotion climax of an episode about something or other almost destroying the earth.

Before I nearly died, I had missed out on two important training opportunities when I had decided to socialize locally — one in MA, another in DC (where Rob met Mike). This weekend I made sure to drag my weak-ass butt up to Dan’s place to train, and was happily surprised to meet a couple people from Aikiweb. We had a good time training.

But the exciting news is my new cast iron grill pan rocks. Boy am I glad I didn’t get a G**rge F***man. Just have to remember to re-enable the smoke alarm when I’m done cooking.

Recent Excessive Consumption:

I also went on a cheap-music splurge, thanks to Amazon’s 4-for-3 sale on stuff under $10.

Internet economy! Yay!
