I know that I been negligent. Please forgive me with the utmost patience for my failings! These stories are forthcoming: Mom & Dad Come to Visit, and then Tom Travels to Singapore, and finally Tom Strains a Shoulder in Tokyo.
Since I’ve been back, I’ve been getting up early, reading the
Financial Times, and training in the park after work (once my shoulder healed). I’ve also fallen prey to a certain nutritional hype. First, I’m revamping my diet, replacing two-thirds of my processed carbohydrate intake with protein, fat, vegetables, and fruit. Second, I’m supplementing my diet each day with fish oil (~6g), chlorella (~5-10g), spirulina (~10-20g), and ginkgo (~120-240mg).
Don’t even ask what I just finished doing behind the scenes, because I’m going to tell you anyways. First, I decided to limit the size of all my flickr uploads to 800 pixels along the longest dimension. This meant registering an API key and hacking python scripts to do it automatically (you try replacing 1400-some odd photos by hand, ha!). That was fun, but it broke all my blog links, so I had to write another python script to walk through my textpattern database, parse out the old urls, then replace them with updated links. Is it wrong to have enjoyed that? Don’t judge me!
I’m hoping to write up the events of May this weekend.

I’m such a loyal reader that I saw your new posting @ 13 hours even though the one before was ancient history.
— malfridi Jun 8, 09:00 AM #How do you like the FT’s new format?
I’m embarrassed to say.. what new format? If it’s the print edition, I haven’t noticed.
BTW, people recognize the paper’s color. Surprising people.
— Tom Jun 8, 04:41 PM #On April 23rd the FT changed the whole layout. Check wikipedia for details. I always tell people it’s the “color of money”. Then explain it’s British money,” you know, the pound.” At which point the conversation usually trails off into the recent eurofication of our good ol’ dollar bills recently, and then the price of gasoline, and then the winner of American Gangster, etc.
— malfridi Jun 11, 08:37 AM #I just started with the fish oil as well. I didn’t like the fact that all my fish oil intake came in the form of deep fried fish n’ chips.
