I made the call. Burning Man is off. I’m not terribly happy about it being the right thing to do, but it’s the right thing to do. I never got around to doing all the things I said I would do after last year. I never did any wardrobe or participatory planning. I did buy a ticket, mind you. Now I’m going to be here, working to ensure my first new technical leadership project succeeds.
Except that I won’t be here now, either.
Just today, I volunteered to staff the big-deal BRS happening down at AUTEC in the Bahamas. It’s a big deal involving CNO, NOAA “versus” CSI, NRDC, and a host of other activist NGOs(Non-Governmental Organizations); check out the permits and public comments
Instead of a week in the desert, I’m stuck on-board a Science Vessel in the Bahamas for a week. Poor me, right?

So, you’re moving into Sealab? You’ll have to let me know if it’s as zany as the Adult Swim show.
— Ed Aug 1, 09:35 PM #Even worse: I won’t be going to Burning Man AND I won’t be at the Bahamanian Sealab event.
Maybe I should spend my free time defragmenting my hard drive and then dusting above the refrigerator.
