Ann & Les met me for breakfast at the 4th street diner (a local greasy spoon terribly popular with the locals). They were running late, so I chatted with the waitresses, watched the short-order cook, and went through three cups of coffee.

After breakfast we parked at my place and walked down to Bowen’s Wharf to catch a ferry to Fort Adams, just as the Carolina Chocolate Drops opened their set. We spent the day in the bright sun on lawn chairs snacking from the smörgåsbord Ann packed — home-made crab salad, fruit salad, sloppy ice-tea popsicles, coleslaw, and potato salad.

Of course, the music was brilliant.

And that was just the main stage. I took a strong preference for wandering off to the smaller harbor and waterfront stages, especially digging the hour long bluegrasstastic appearance by Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys.

Crap, I left out the hilarious yet awesome Cheryl Wheeler and the other performances I skimmed: Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem, Sierra Hull & Highway 111, and Diana Jones.

What a musically *FAB-U-LOUS* weekend!
